Sketching the Senses:
The Sonoran Series
“Sketching the Senses: the Sonoran Series” invites the public to programmed sketch sessions at Las Milpitas Community Farm along the Santa Cruz River and the Children's Peace Garden in the Sunnyside neighborhood to highlight and celebrate the visceral and cultural characteristics of the Sonoran landscape through an immersive drawing experience.
With collective goals of collaboration, access, and meaningful connection, this project brings together cultivators, people with a longstanding connection to this land, newcomers, multiple generations, and artists to focus our attention around the rare beauty, diversity, and possibilities of the Sonoran Desert region.
Our project facilitates a site-specific experience for creative practice at the farm involving heightened sensory engagement and storytelling.
